A Pakistani girl recently made headlines for becoming the Canadian “ambassador” for a day. Eleven-year-old Laiba Zaid was selected for the honorary position by the Canadian High Commission in Islamabad as part of an International Day of the Girl Child initiative. Laiba was given a tour of the Canadian High Commission and had the opportunity to meet with Canadian diplomats and staff. She also participated in a virtual meeting with Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations and presented a speech on girls’ education and empowerment.
