A construction site accident at Bhara Kahu bridge in Islamabad has left five workers injured after the bridge collapsed on Thursday afternoon. The workers were trapped under the rubble, and emergency services rushed to the site to rescue them.
The incident occurred during ongoing construction work on the bridge when a section of it collapsed suddenly, causing the workers to fall from a height of several feet. The injured were quickly retrieved by rescue teams and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The rescue operation was conducted by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials, who managed to extract the trapped workers from the debris within a few hours.
The Injured were identified as Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Ashraf, Haji Khan, Jaffar Ali, and Mohammad Bilal, all of whom were working at the construction site. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they are said to be in stable condition.
According to sources, the incident occurred due to the use of substandard materials and a lack of proper safety measures at the construction site. The police have registered a case against the construction company responsible for the project and are investigating the incident.
