Afghanistan has announced that it will host Pakistan for a three-match Twenty20 International series in Sharjah later this month, marking the first-ever bilateral series between the two neighbouring countries. According to a release by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the home season will commence with the series against Pakistan on March 25, 27, and 29. Previously, Afghanistan was scheduled to begin their season with a One-day International series against Australia, but Cricket Australia (CA) declined to participate in protest against the treatment of women in Afghanistan. ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf welcomed Pakistan’s decision to play and stated that it was a significant accomplishment for the two countries. Although Afghanistan has played Pakistan in three T20 Internationals and four ODIs in multi-national events, they have yet to win against their opponents.
